🌙 Discover the Story Behind Brassy Lassy

Before crystals were popular.
Before they were trendy.
Before they were everywhere.

When I first started working with crystals, it wasn’t something widely talked about here in Newfoundland.

It was quiet.
It was personal.
It was something you either resonated with — or you didn’t.

Brassy Lassy began in 2010 with a small table at the St. John’s Farmers’ Market.

Back then, asking about energy or intuition wasn’t something everyone felt comfortable doing openly. I remember thinking:

What if there was a space where people could just explore?

A place where you could ask questions.
A place where you didn’t have to explain yourself.
A place where curiosity was welcome.

That idea slowly grew into what Brassy Lassy is today.

In 2015, the shop found its home on Water Street — and the intention behind it never changed.

No pressure.
No labels.
No performance.

Just tools, guidance, and space to feel good in your own energy.

Why It’s Called Brassy Lassy

The name came from a mix of heritage, personality, and family.

My dad lived in Ireland for a time, and some of the materials I first worked with came from there — a quiet connection that always stayed with me.

But the heart of the name came from my mom.

She loved brass.
And over time, I did too.

The warmth of it.
The character.
The way it holds its shine.

She was my rock — the kind of person who stood beside you through everything and believed in you fully.

Many people knew her as Mamma Lassy.

Without her, none of this would have been possible.

I hope I’m still making her proud.

Over time, the name Brassy Lassy stuck — and now many people simply call me Brassy.

I love that. It reminds me this space was built on real connection.

🦋 A Small Sign

You’ll notice butterflies around the shop — on tags, in little corners.

They remind me of my mom, and of the quiet ways the people we love continue to guide us.

A small reminder that connection doesn’t disappear.
It simply changes form.

Brassy Lassy has never been about chasing trends.

It’s about meaning.
It’s about authenticity.
And it’s about creating a space where people feel welcome to explore what resonates.

Whether you visit the shop or find your way here online —
I’m truly glad you’re here.
